PRODUCTS SOAPSTONESoapstone is a natural stone composed mainly of talc. It has a unique soft feel to it as a dry bar of soap would, hence its name. Soapstone is available in a handful of varieties. The more popular of which center around black or green coloring. The stone’s shade of color can be altered to a degree by the customer. Soapstone acquires its true color by being oiled with mineral oil. The more often oil is applied, the darker the stone will become. The reverse is true as well, if you wish the soapstone to remain lighter in color simply apply oil less frequently. This allows the customer to acquire exactly the look they are going for. Soapstone is softer than most other stones. Despite this quality, it is not absorbent. In its customary state, it is prepared as a non reflective surface- or honed is a popular word for it. Soft stones typically maintain appearance better as a non reflective surface. In the event that the stone did acquire a stain, it would only be on the surface. The stain can easily be removed by scrubbing or sanding. |

The most elegant of natural stone, granite offers a value that is all its own. Igneous rock and sundry minerals define the unique composition of colors and designs that make up granite. When correctly maintained, granite can resist stains, scratches and heat. Granite adds a richness and beauty to any kitchen due to its unconformity from slab to slab. |

Quartz surfaces are manufactured by a complicated process which involves heating of natural quartz to the point of melting. The quartz is then mixed in combination with a variety of pigments which give the stones their unique colors. Quartz is one of the hardest minerals in existence. As a result of this, a countertop made from quartz is extremely durable. It is also impervious to water, moisture, or even bacteria. Because these surfaces are man-made, there is a uniformity to the color that you would not see with a natural stone. This allows seams to be as unobtrusive as possible. As an added bonus, there is a very low amount of maintenance required. The surfaces can be cleaned simply with warm soapy water or Windex. We currently carry a number of different brands of quartz surfaces because each company has something unique to offer. See links below for more information.
